AR500 steel plate is a premium abrasion resistant steel plate, heat treated to exhibit through-hardening, improved forming and welding capabilities. With a typical Brinell Hardness Number (BHN) of 460 – 544, the protection AR500 provides in wear applications is exceptional. Used in the manufacture of mining equipment, the truck-trailer industry and the concrete / aggregate industry, AR500 steel possesses excellent resistance to heavy wear. Making it an excellent choice for shooting targets.
What can I expect from my ECT AR 500 Steel Shooting Targets?
AR 500 is super strong, but like just about everything, it has its limitations. If you would like your AR 500 Steel Targets to last for a long time, follow these simple guidelines.
Shoot Pistol rounds at 15 yards and further
Shoot center fire type rifles at 100 yards and further
Never shoot any ammunition over 3000 fps at an AR 500 steel target
Never shoot any armor piercing or steel shot ammunition at the targets
Always select the proper thickness steel for your type of ammunition (high powered ammunition will dent thinner metals and create an unsafe target)
If these guidelines are followed, you should be able to use your Empty Clip Targets with minimal damage to the steel.
As always, shoot responsibly and at your own risk.
AR 500 Thicknesses, 1/4" plate & 1/2" plate
Depending on your type of ammunition, always choose the correct thickness steel to shoot at and always maintain proper shooting distances.
Speed kills steel targets!! We do not recommend high velocity ammunition. If you are not following the guidelines, i.e. standing too close, it may damage the targets surfaces, therefore potentially causing bodily harm. Always maintain safe shooting distances!!
